IJF President supports TRE TORRI Tournament

Marius Vizer - President of IJF

As President of IJF (International Judo Federation), I wish to express my gratitude to the Tre Torri Organising Committee, especially to Corrado Croceri, for contributing to the promotion of Judo and for the great job he has carried out with enthusiasm and great professionalism.

The Tre Torri has got a long-standing tradition both in Italy and in the rest of the world and we all know of its very high organisational and technical worth: it is a well-known contest in the tradition of international Judo, a very popular and appreciated event thanks to the high quality of its participants and to the large number of countries who have always taken part.

The Tre Torri has always attracted interest owing to its own particular formula and atmosphere that enable young athletes, Olympic and World champions to compete, so that they can all benefit: whether it is gaining new experience at high-level competition in the case of the former, or else checking fitness and strength in test competition, for the latter players.

Not for the first time athletes who had taken part in this event took their place on the most important podiums of world Judo; the organisation of the Judo Camp following the contests will complete the programme, giving all the participants the opportunity of increasing their own technical levels.

One of the IJF’s strategies is to promote Judo at every level and, since great educational and social values are inherent in our discipline, events like the Tre Torri International Tournament cannot but be appreciated and esteemed by the International Judo Federation.

Judo, as Olympic sport, earns the interest of young people and contributes to the development and the growth of their personality, because it has a great social, educational and formative function.

The IJF considers events like the Tre Torri International Tournament valid ways to promote Judo, which has the purpose of achieving the Jita kyo ei principle according with the ideas of the founder, J. Kano.

The IJF wants to make the most of events that can be very important for the promotion and the spread of our discipline, especially in this phase, in which two objectives are to be reached:

  • Improving the aesthetic and expressive style of Judo, so that it can be more appreciated and better known by an ever growing public;
  • to get greater media attention;

I wish that organizers, fans, athletes, experts, managers and presidents of the federations contribute towards carrying out this important project.

IJF President
Mr. MARIUS L. VIZER
